Sports & Health Education

Sport is an integral part of our Austrailian education. The VISS sports program works on the underlying philosophy to produce confident, well-rounded individual who have a healthy respect towards competition and fair play. We also work to develop our students understanding of personal, social and community health. This is expressed in our lessons by putting emphases on demonstrating the VISS Values on a daily basis.

The program is constantly evolving across Primary, Middle and Senior School which is based on the needs of our students. Additionally, we have our VISS interschool sports leagues which expose our students to new sports in a competitive context We as a school and a HPE Team provide opportunities for students to enjoy and appreciate the benefits of physical activity, competition, teamwork and sportsmanship as well as promoting positive attitudes toward sport and physical pursuits that will prepare them to engage in an active lifestyle

Health and Physical Education-Curriculum

At VISS we recognize that regular physical activity contributes to improved performance in the classroom, as well as the overall health and wellbeing of students. While developing motor skills, this program also contributes to building students confidence, leadership, social skill and strategic thinking capabilities. To complement this, theoretical health classes are paramount for students to attain knowledge to make informed decisions regarding their personal, social, emotional wellbeing. Developing these areas help build confidence in our students to be able to make clear and thoughtful decisions. When presented with this obstacles, this will enable them to take responsibility for his or her actions, behavior and also know how to take care of themselves and others.

House System

The House system consists of four houses — Falcons, Gazelles, Leopards, and Scorpions — across both Primary and Secondary School. House Captains from Grades 5 + are chosen to represent and lead their groups. These captains are responsible for fostering team spirit and help organise house events.

Activities include not only sports but also different challenges, scavenger hunts, incentives, and many more exciting events.
The House system is designed to develop positive teamwork, leadership, and collaboration within a healthy, competitive environment outside the classroom.

Students can earn house points each week by displaying the VISS Values. Every fortnight, all the points are added up and the results are shared at assemblies.
